THE PIGEON
A looping performance about repetition, rhythm, and the strange persistence of a man in a pigeon mask — now available in toy form.
Originally developed during my master’s in Performance Design, The Pigeon began as a series of playful studio experiments that spiralled into a full performance about repetition, labour, and the uncanny. It mixes a pub-rock drum loop, static-filled televisions, projection, and a rudimentary dance that a pigeon person might do.
Each performance followed the same pattern — actions repeated until they became automatic, awkward, then oddly sincere. Somewhere between a ritual and a warm-up for something that never quite begins.
Later, I attempted to immortalise the character by designing a toy version — a small, plastic tribute to a performance no one really asked for but everyone quietly enjoyed.
