WENTWORTH REUNION
Commissioned by Wentworth Woodhouse. An augmented reality get-together for George Stubbs’ animals who fancied stretching their legs.
So, this is Wentworth Reunion — an AR artwork where George Stubbs’ horses and hounds have climbed out of their paintings for a bit of fresh air. Whistlejacket’s here, obviously. The others showed up too. They’ve been hanging on walls for 250 years and, to be honest, they’re ready for a change of scene.
You wander around Wentworth Woodhouse with your phone, scan a few illustrated markers, and suddenly — there they are. Life-sized. Talking. Possibly judging your shoes.
Each animal has its own voice and personality. There’s also a narrator who tries to keep things educational but keeps getting distracted by the horses.
It’s not quite a game, not quite a history lesson — more like bumping into the past and finding it in surprisingly good spirits.
