THE SMALL FLAT EXPERIMENTS
A series of lockdown animations made in a one-bed flat using junk, a fridge box, and a green screen puppet stage.
During lockdown I built a tiny green screen puppet stage out of a fridge box and started filming whatever I could find — bits of recycling, stray toys, food that looked slightly theatrical. Over time, the flat filled with props, wires, and small regrets.
From that chaos came a series of short, abstract animations featuring fruit with opinions, disembodied hands, and a pineapple that refuses to explain itself. Everything was shot, lit, and edited within arm’s reach of the kettle.
Each piece was filmed, composited, and edited between the sofa and the sink. The results are equal parts experimental cinema, cabin fever, and arts-and-crafts meltdown. Conducted entirely in pyjamas.
